Boyd Rice And Friends - Music, Martinis And Misanthropy - CD - 14 tracks - NER - 2003

Reissue of the Boyd Rice album 'Music, Martinis and Misanthropy' recorded between July 1989 and March 1990, with the help of his 'Friends' Douglas P., Rose Mc Dowall, Michael Moynihan, Tony Wakeford and Bob Ferbrache. Initially released in 1990 as a vinyl and a CD, 'Music, Martinis and Misanthropy' is now offered a re-release in a luxurious digipack (cover with embossed and debossed details) accompanied by a rethought 12 page booklet complete with new photos... where the 'recipe for fun' still keeps its choice place...
'Music, Martinis and Misanthropy' is a true masterpiece of misanthropic music; Boyd Rice expresses as no other that precious, vital Love that cannot be shared... Some of the tracks present on this album have become confirmed classics... 'People', 'Shadows Of The Night'... 'Music, Martinis and Misanthropy' is a unique, unclassifiable record!
Also figuring on this reissue is a final bonus track (not mentioned on the track list) 'Secret News', very long, repetitive, almost hypnotic, a sort of sound collage of different radio resources played at a slow speed. The result is a sound construction that forms a melody that perniciously permeates the mind. A track that is as strange as it is captivating...
It should be noted that a picture-disc version of 'Music, Martinis and Misanthropy' limited to 2000 copies has also been released by NER, the bonus track is shorter than on the CD.

An indispensable classic!
