Initially released on vinyl in 1985, then on CD (with four bonus tracks), the album has been out
of print for a few years. One can only be glad with the re-pressing of this classic taken from the back
catalogue; especially as the tracks from the 'Born Again' 12" are also included as a bonus.
The remasterised CD undeniably gains in sound quality. It is sheathed in a luxurious digipack (cover
with embossed and debossed details), complete with a 16-page booklet containing previously unseen photos
of the band as well as all the lyrics.
For those who posses the original version of this album, it is interesting to know that the tracks
on this re-edition have been replaced in the initial order of the vinyl...
Inevitably, because it is set in the mid 80's, Nada! draws us back towards sonorities that could
surprise those who have discovered the band more recently... The sound is more electronic, a reflection
of the new-wave period... Obviously, the album has to be replaced in a time where Death In June was
formed of Douglas P. and Patrick Legas, helped on this recording by Richard Butler and David Tibet as a
'special collaborator'.
Nada! remains an album that has a special place in the Death In June discography... an album that
still procures an identical pleasure upon each listening... a record towards which one inexorably turns
when one wants to plunge back into the band's past... perhaps indeed to find the sound, the atmosphere
of the beginning, something special and indescribable...
Nada! also encloses a certain number of mythical tracks... 'Leper Lord', 'Behind The Rose (Fields Of
Rape)', 'C'est Un Rêve'... tracks that, despite the years, still keep the same strength, the same
beauty...
