FORSETI - Windzeit - Box - Goeart / Grunwald - 2002

'Windzeit', initially released on CD had received, in all justice, a good number of warm and positive reactions. It's easy to assume that the welcome reserved to this box set can only be unanimous, so well is the aesthetic of the whole marvellously associated with the beauty and the fragility of the music interpreted by Forseti. A superb, large sized, box, covered in green cloth adorned with inscriptions in discrete golden letters, that opens to reveal the many pearls, draped in the same green, contained within...
The first piece, the 'Windzeit' LP should more than satisfy the amateurs of the format... The speckled green vinyl figures catchy neofolk melodies such as 'Verzweiflung' or 'Sturmgeweiht', as well as the unavoidable 'Black Jena' to which Douglas P. lends his voice with a magnificent text of his composition...
Then come two pieces that can only be found in this box set. The 10" 'Raunen', also a green vinyl, on which can be found 8 live tracks recorded between 1999 and 2001. Most of them are unreleased tracks or taken from the 'Jenzig' 10". A 10" that will satisfy all those who have kept fond and imperishable memories of a Forseti concert...
The last vinyl is a 7" entitled 'Europa' which figures two unreleased Forseti songs. 'Europa' (a track that will here again revive some memories for those who were under the charm of a live interpretation...) and 'Dunkel die Wälder', a song inspired by Finnish folklore accompanied by a charming female voice.
To finish, the last piece of this box set: the CD digipack version of the 'Jenzig' 10", released in the past as a limited edition of 550 copies. An extra track 'Jenzig II' agreeably completes this reissue on a new format... An opus that still keeps the savours of freshness, of melancholy and childhood for those who discovered Forseti with this 10"... It can be also noted that the digipack comes with a booklet containing some beautiful photos of landscapes and all the lyrics... This CD digipack version should soon be available...

As I write these lines, this box set, limited to 350 copies, is more than likely sold out... nonetheless, the CD version of 'Windzeit' presented in a very beautiful book-shaped digipack (the same presentation as the 'Jenzig' digipack) is always available. It would be regrettable to miss out on one of the best neofolk albums released in 2002...

As for the box set, it is one of the most beautiful releases of the past year... the quasi-integral discography of Forseti presented with an aesthetical concern that associates beauty, finesse and sobriety...

Magnificent!
