Where songs like Devil's Lullaby or other ones from the 1996 album are close to some dark folk songs of Current 93 or Backworld, other tracks remain in a classical pop and folk version, reminding Mazzy Star, Tarnation or even The Sundays, or some folk songs of Michael Gira's latest projects. A voice and a guitar, with side-effects, that capture the essential feeling of folk music, in its tragic beauty and ethereal atmosphere. It's also with a great pleasure that we can listen to some excellent covers, like "All I Ever Wanted" of Bauhaus, "Psychocandy" and "Darklands" of the brothers Reid, "No new Tale to Tell" of Love & Rockets. There's just "Wailing Wall" that is missing from the original album "Suicide Notes".
An excellent introduction for anyone who wants to discover the strange world of Neither/Neither World, and certainly a start for purchasing the next releases of Wendy van Dusen.
